Our Print Club is committed to cultivating an inclusive community, united by our shared love of all forms of printmaking. We offer a wide range of opportunities to explore and experience printmaking, including field trips, special projects, tours, and guest speakers. Our club is a space where both seasoned printmakers and newcomers can come together to nurture creativity, experimentation and curiosity. We welcome everyone who shares our passion for printmaking to join us in building a community that values new ideas and celebrates diversity.

Beth Grimm

Letterpress instructor

Beth is a dedicated full-time instructor in the Graphic Design Program with a passion for typography and all aspects of Graphic Design. With over 15 years of experience in letterpress printing, she has played a critical role in developing the Center for Printing Arts’ letterpress programming and also the design of our current lab space. Outside of teaching at Madison College, Beth runs her own home letterpress studio.

Emilie Kalpinski

Emilie brings her knowledge of Graphic Design, a healthy obsession with typography and love for printmaking to the Center for Printing Arts. She is a full-time instructor in the Graphic Design Program teaching Design Fundamentals, Typographic Design and Advanced Design & Layout in addition to Principles of Letterpress.

Scott is a passionate letterpress enthusiast, with a background as a full-time professional graphic designer. Seeking to explore a more hands-on approach to design, he began taking letterpress classes and eventually joined us as a part-time instructor. With a wealth of experience and innovative ideas, Scott brings his infectious passion for the craft to each class he teaches.

Dave Peterson

Dave’s extensive experience as a professional silk-screen printer is a valuable asset to Madison College’s Center for Printing Arts. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and skills with students, offering insights into the trade and tricks of the craft. Dave provides a solid foundation for beginners while also encouraging innovation and experimentation with new materials and methods of screen printing on various surfaces.

Deb served as a cherished member of the full-time Graphic Design Faculty for over three decades and played an essential role in establishing the Center for Printing Arts and acquiring some of the equipment and materials we still use today. Following her retirement in 2020, she continued to nurture her passion for printmaking and design by returning to the lab to work with students as a part-time employee.

Nick Loveland

Senior lab coordinator

Nick has been an integral part of our team as Senior Lab Coordinator for over a decade. With extensive expertise in both Screen and Letterpress printing, he played a pivotal role in designing the current facilities at the Center for Printing Arts. Nick is dedicated to keeping the lab running smoothly, ensuring a seamless printing experience for our students and instructors.

Each semester, we select a few projects within our Madison College community to design and print. Examples of past projects include t-shirts, tote bags, postcards, invitations, and booklet covers.
